Though often unseen, otters inhabit the waterways and rivers throughout North Carolina, including Forsyth County. The artwork highlights their role in the region’s ecosystem and encourages awareness of their natural habitat. Recognized for its impact and scale, the mural received the 2021 Knope Award, honoring it as a significant public art achievement in the community.

Let the Future Unfold tells the heartfelt story of a young girl dreaming vividly of her future self and her unique place in the world. As she reaches for the stars, she remains hopeful, inspired, and filled with innocent wonder. Beside her stands a majestic great heron, acting as both her guardian and guide, symbolizing wisdom and protection on her journey ahead.
